FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

For hundreds of years, the release of white doves at weddings, funerals & special events have symbolized love, peace, joy and the promise of new beginnings. As they rush from their baskets, the flurry of their wings will express your joy and excitement. These birds will mate for life and will always return home, to the safety of their nest, when released.

The doves will join into a flock after being released and normally circle overhead briefly to get their bearings before flying home together. What a unique and memorable way to conclude your celebration

These birds are specially bred for their homing instinct and their snow white color. We spend countless hours conditioning them for your special day to insure they return home safely.

What happens to the doves when they are released ?

We start training our doves at a very early age to return to the loft.

How do they know where home is ?

Nobody really knows, a well-trained dove appears to use many sensors to “navigate.” Although not clearly
understood, their ability depends on good health, and extensive training with a knowledgeable handler.

What time of day is best for a release ?

The specific time of day is flexible, but we never release less than 1 hour to sunset to ensure enough time for
the birds to safely reach home.

At what point in the celebration should the birds be released ?

This is entirely up to you ! There can be a lot creativity in the timing and location of your release.

What if it rains on the day of our event ?

For ‘Acts of God’ such as rain, snow, or high winds we reserve the right to cancel the event. In this event

How do you prevent the birds from making a mess ?

Just like human athlete’s our birds have a special diet before big event’s so they can perform at top levels
without “messing up”.

Very Important!!!!

Some people make the sad mistake of buying doves from a pet store to release. these are cousins to the one’s we use but are not the type of birds that should never be released ! These poor birds have no homing instinct nor any home to go to if released. These poor birds will probably fly to the nearest tree. And, because of their white color, it’s unlikely that they will survive long in the wild ! So Please, Don’t Make This Mistake.
